Project Description
380kV – Vitruviano Compact Pole
The Vitruvio pylons, together with the Foster – tower, are examples of the research for innovation in the design of High Voltage towers moved in recent years towards more compact solutions focusing on the visual and environmental impact.
The design activity, the structural verification and the real scale test were performed by PROJECT, in collaboration with Colombo, on behalf of Terna. In particular, taking advantage of the experience gained in decades of activity, PROJECT developed a compact truss support, renamed Vitruviano Compact Pole.
Generally, compact solutions are achieved using tubular profiles, which are expensive and difficult to assemble, while in this case the tower is composed by a lattice skeleton core covered by a steel membrane. In this way it results a light tower with a beautiful visual impact, thanks to his cover.
